The Church of Scotland is offering a key opportunity for communities to transfer assets directly rather than simply sell buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re committed to ensuring Tiree is prioritised for this option. This approach empowers our community and affirms our right to manage our historical, cultural, and spiritual treasures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A trust has been established to help preserve Heylipol Church on the Isle of Tiree. We need strong community support to show that the church is wanted and needed. By finding new uses for the building beyond its Sunday service, we can attract grants and funding. Our survey aims to capture the community’s sentiment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

If the people of Tiree do not act to purchase Heylipol, the Church of Scotland will sell it, leaving us without a church that holds significant value. The Church of Scotland allows direct asset transfers to communities, and we are gathering evidence to argue that Tiree should be given this opportunity first. This effort promotes community empowerment and helps us manage our historical and cultural assets.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
